Ascent Solar, a US Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) solar manufacturer, has acquired 15 MW of CIGS production capacity in Zurich, Switzerland, from Flisom. Ascent Solar had a 5 MW production scale previously and will service outstanding contracts from Flisom. The news comes less than two months after Ascent announced its existing production line was switching to the industrial commercialization of its perovskites, which it says have reached 20% efficiency, near-par with mainstream PV products. At that time it said the switch would be enabled by the purchase of manufacturing capacity from a then-unspecified company, now revealed to be Flisom, with an option to take a controlling interest.
