The past month has seen multiple US solar manufacturing announcements. Of these two of the most notable are Canadian Solar and Vikram Solar’s announcements, respectively Chinese and Indian established players – following on from LONGi’s plans for a 5 GW module factory in Ohio, announced in March. Canadian Solar is to build a 5 GW module factory for a $250 million investment. For its part Vikram is pursuing a $250 million, 2 GW module factory in Colorado announced in June with a 2024 due date – but with the potential to reach $1.5 billion in investment and 4 GW scale, verticalized through ingot, wafer, and cell additional to module – all backed by a multi-member Joint Venture.
