In last week’s issue we predicted that China would install 200 GWdc solar power in 2023. We stated that a large part of the reason why 50% of China’s 51 GWdc added in Q2 was utility-scale, even with rooftop undergoing a policy-driven boom, must be because of multi-hundred-GW ‘base project’ wind-solar-storage hybrid energy complexes beginning to come online – and that is the case. What we got wrong was saying there wasn’t much detail about the scale and timing of these projects – in fact there is plenty of information, including some from the past week.
