India has fallen to fifth place in the list of the world’s most active solar markets, having installed 8.3 GW in the first eight months of 2023. Normally surpassed only by the US and China, India fell behind Brazil in Q4 2022, and is currently being outpaced by Germany as of Q2 2022. In the month of August, Germany installed 1,056 MW while India installed 465 MW – although there is plenty of monthly variation in India’s figures, due to the predominance of utility-scale projects.
