A new report produced by Fichtner and ITP Renewables for the Australian Solar Thermal Research Institute (ASTRI) has predicted a $10 billion AUD ($6.5 billion USD) saving for Australia’s grid through 2050 if concentrated solar power (CSP) is integrated into the country’s power strategy. The main argument made in the report is that options are limited for long-duration, overnight energy storage, and that it will be required at full scale for a wind-solar grid of the future.
