In 2020, offshore photovoltaic developer Oceans of Energy commissioned a 400 kW solar system in the North Sea. This pilot system has survived intact through 10-meter waves and 100 kilometer-per-hour winds while remaining operational and in place. The Dutch company is halfway through upscaling this North Sea Two pilot project to 1 MW. This week Oceans of Energy received a Statement of Conformity from partner DNV – verification that the system’s design satisfies the requirements laid out in DNV-RP-0584, the world’s first floating solar photovoltaic (FPV) Recommended Practice.
