In 2019 Germany’s solar association, * (BSW-Solar), stated that 78,000 jobs in the domestic solar-plus-storage sector was a possibility by 2030, up from 26,400 at the time. Today in 2023 Germany’s solar workforce is almost double that size already, installing 1.2 GW a month (three times the 2019 pace). And this is still not nearly enough, with targets requiring another 50% growth, with around half of positions being installers and electricians. Another NGO, the Competence Centre for Securing Skilled Labor (KOFA), found already in March 2022 that for German wind and solar combined, there was a shortage of 216,000.
