Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners’ proposed polysilicon factory near Townsville in Queensland is to be fast-tracked, with the government of the Australian state declaring it a “prescribed project,” which will assist with approval processes. We recently covered the similar 100,000-ton polysilicon factory under construction in Oman with some skepticism, eventually concluding that it may only be the metallurgical-grade capacity which is under active construction, with the Siemens Process polysilicon awaiting better market conditions.
