European heat pump industry performance is varying wildly – up 50% in the UK, down 50% in Germany – so far in 2024. The only consistent trend is on the part of government targets, which are vastly in excess of current installation rates. The EU as a whole targets 10 million total installs from 2023 through 2027. France is a relative success story, featuring government investment in no less than 27 commissioned factories, targeting 1 million installations a year for 2027 per a target introduced in April and already reaching 620,000 installs in 2022.
