According to the Silicon Industry Branch, China’s solar exports in H1 2024 came to: 23.5 GW wafer (up 20.7%) 28.98 GW cell (up 38%) 130.04 GW module (up 25.2%) These statistics can be used to judge global progress on reshoring the wafer-cell-module steps outside of China. Wafer production capacity outside of China is around 20 GW, all in South-East Asia, and may not be operating at a high rate due to the US Department of Commerce’s repeated AD/CVD investigations.
