The UK has unveiled Project Reach, which will see Network Rail commission Neos Networks and Freshwave to provide improved connectivity on parts of the country’s rail networks. Described as a ‘nationally significant, transformative public-private partnership,’ it illustrates the challenges of expanding MNO connectivity to the most challenging network environments. The government’s announcement said this will end mobile dead zones, but the facts of the matter are that this project only concerns a fraction of the UK’s total rail network.
