Taiwan’s MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 9500 SoC, its latest flagship smartphone processor design. The SoC is notable for being MediaTek’s first foray past the 4 GHz milestone, with its main CPU clocked at 4.21 GHz. Qualcomm passed this last year, with the release of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which has now been surpassed by the Gen 5 variant. MediaTek is banking on appealing to Android smartphone OEMs looking for a more affordable alternative to Qualcomm.
