CRRC Zhuzhou Institute, a Chinese megacorp which began life as a rail locomotive manufacturer in 1959 and which expanded into wind manufacturing a couple of decades ago, has held its fourth science and technology conference – this time showing off a 20 MW offshore floating wind turbine system, with a 260-meter diameter sweeping an area of 53,100 square meters. The previous offshore wind turbine size record, floating or not, was 18 MW and was set in late 2023 by Dongfang Electric.
