A smattering of smart home news precedes CES, as big announcements loom

CES never fails to be a hotbed of smart home news, but over the holiday period, there have been a few smaller announcements that set the stage. Many smaller firms will try to share the platform with the big boys, and will be utterly drowned out by the most recognized brands. The show looks set to be something of a slugfest between Amazon and Google, as the rest of the industry adapts to their lead, as well as the increased tension between the CSP providers that want to make a SHaaS play, and the off-the-shelf DIY direct-to-consumer approach.
