The USA’s latest spectrum auction has concluded, with AT&T and Dish Network emerging as the biggest spenders on licences for the 3.45-3.55 GHz band. Auction 110 had attracted lukewarm interest in terms of bidders’ willingness to pay large sums, even though this spectrum would be a useful addition to the C-band airwaves, in which the large operators invested heavily last year – or an alternative way to secure valuable midband licences for those that missed out. One large bidder (presumed to be Verizon) dropped out after Round 10, in October, which may have dampened bidding.
