After pretty much saying it had little interest in NB-IoT, AT&T has now announced that it will be adopting the licensed LPWAN technology in the US and Mexico. It plans to launch the service early in 2019 in the US, and later in the year for its southern neighbor. It comes as the US becomes one of the most crowded markets for licensed LPWAN offerings. Verizon was an early advocate of both LTE-M and NB-IoT, and T-Mobile (with its Deutsche Telekom heritage) was always on board the NB-IoT hype train.
