Tindo Solar, the lone Australian solar manufacturer (we interviewed then-CEO Shayne Jaenisch in 2022), has announced a 1 GW module factory to be built at an as-yet undecided location, up from the company’s current 150 MW production capacity, which is itself a recent increase from 65 MW back in 2022. This 1 GW announcement is remarkable in itself, given Australia’s lack of trade protections and strong subsidies for the solar industry, in comparison to the post-IRA US.
