Brazil’s governmental energy research organization EPE has published statistics from its new National Energy Plan, including predictions that wind capacity will double to 32.2 GW, utility-scale solar will increase from 3.1 GW to only 8.4 GW, while distributed generation – a mainly solar category – will balloon from 4.2 GW to 24.5 GW. Comparatively smaller development will come from natural gas (from 14.1 GW to 24.5 GW), nuclear (2 GW to 3.4 GW) and large-scale hydro (102 GW to 106 GW), while small-scale hydro will add 3 GW to reach 8.9 GW.
