One ray of light for Huawei. Amid reports that more countries will follow the USA and Australia in barring the vendor from major telecoms contracts, Canada does not plan to impose sanctions. Canada may not be the biggest market for mobile network equipment, but such statements are important – the Chinese vendors, led by Huawei and ZTE, will be concerned about a domino effect from the US action. Australia has already excluded them from 5G deals – to the consternation of some operators, especially Vodafone, which was a Huawei-only shop in 4G.
