Chinese operators and vendors have more than tripled the government’s quota for 5G industrial networks, and garnered international awards for some of these projects. As the country expands its ambitions further, it will have to increase the pressure on these domestic players to meet its goals. China reached the end of its Set Sail Action Plan in December last year. The plan, from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), laid out goals for applying 5G technology to key industries and to society at large.
