Unsurprisingly, the big growth story amongst China’s renewable energy exports in 2023 is EVs. EV exports are up 67.1% to 1.77 million vehicles (while total automobile exports rose and 57.4% to 5.22 million), part of the same trend which saw BYD out-scale Tesla to become the biggest EV maker (including plugin hybrids).
