In this week’s most obscure energy story, the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company has published a request for expressions of interest for five Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants to be developed on the country’s northwestern coast on a 25-year Build-Own-Operate basis. These plants would have a dual-purpose role, generating electricity and providing thermal energy to desalination operations. In 2020, Egypt cancelled a tender for a 100 MW CSP project, but this tender may be destined for better things.
