The three Baltic states have synchronized their grids with Western Europe, cutting grid connection with Russia at the same time. Back in July, Lithuania’s Energy Minister predicted Lithuania’s electricity prices would rise only a few percent. Grid operator Litgrid calculated in 2023 that the consumer would pay an extra €0.5, €0.6 or €1 respectively in Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia each month for a typical 140 kWh consumption – so around $5 per MWh averaged across the three states, which would be 6%.
