The neutral host model allows various operators to share network infrastructure, lowering costs and enhancing coverage. But one of the key questions is who is responsible for paying to build and run these networks, particularly in indoor settings – should this be the MNOs, or the venue owners? The neutral host space is also fertile ground for Open RAN technology. We saw this embodied last week, when Verizon announced that it had deployed its first interoperable multi-vendor Open RAN distributed antenna system (DAS) system at the University of Texas Moody Center and the Austin Convention Center in the US.
