Wherever you look right now there are lithium ion battery giga-factories of one type or another, springing up all over the world – this week it was General Motor’s turn once again, announcing an almost identical $2.3 billion 2.8 million square foot factory in Spring Hill, Tennessee to the one that it promised a year ago in Lordstown, Ohio. Both will make the Ultium Battery Cells and both are in conjunction with an LG subsidiary.
