The GSMA is advocating (again) for more MNO-friendly merger reviews, having commissioned a study that has exposed “flaws” in the current European Commission (EC) process. With the EU having called for mega-mergers, in the wake of the Draghi and Letta reports, there has been a distinct lack of progress on this front. As such, the GSMA hopes that this report, which it funded, can help speed things up – hoping to influence the EC as it revises its Horizontal Merger Guidelines (HMG).
