Honda and Cruise, the self-driving General Motors subsidiary, are partnering to build a self-driving car from scratch, which will form the basis of Cruise’s global strategy. Honda is committing $2.75bn, which will see two automaker rivals team up to tackle a potential new market opportunity. It’s not an unprecedented move, but it is a little strange given the emphasis that automakers seem to put on creating their own self-driving stacks.
