MaxLinear is buying Intel’s Home Gateway Platform division for $150m, following weeks of rumors about Intel looking to offload the asset. MaxLinear appears to have got itself a bargain, adding a good chunk of value to its CPE (customer premises equipment) portfolio and entering the WiFi game in earnest. The all-cash deal will add between $60m and $70m in quarterly revenue, according to MaxLinear, which is timely news, as the firm just had to revise its Q1 revenue forecast downwards, citing coronavirus.
