Intel’s recent results showed how it is struggling to find a growth market significant enough to offset the decline of the PC. It has failed in mobile and other end user devices such as wearables and home gadgets have uncertain prospects and/or low margins. But there is one area of the Internet of Things where Intel is prospering. Research by Semicast has found that last year, Intel leapt to third place in the industrial semiconductor market – which will drive the ‘serious’ end of the IoT.
