UK start-up Jet Connectivity, founded in 2020 with the goal of improving connectivity and security at sea, has evolved into a specialist provider of 5G networks for maritime and offshore renewable energy projects. The firm has two offshore wind pilot projects in the North and Celtic Seas which will be deployed imminently, and touts its fast set-up times as the key to its appeal. Founder James Thomas, a keen sailor, came up with the concept when competing in the Fastnet, a 625 nautical mile yacht race from southern England to Ireland and back again.
