Landis+Gyr goes L-LPWAN in smart meters, a win for UBBA Private LTE

Landis+Gyr has just announced the launch of its new ‘omni-carrier cellular meter,’ which are available for order and will start shipping to customers in Q2. Supporting both LTE Cat-M and Cat-NB, the new meters look like a significant departure in the utility sector, and it is not particularly clear why Landis+Gyr has opted for the shift. The new meters are aimed at the North American market, but this could change. Landis+Gyr claims that they are ‘omni-carrier capable,’ with a single meter model being able to run on networks from whichever MNOs are capable.
