Our article on the SNEC exhibition last week veered into mostly talking about perovskites. Now we have to publish another one, because even more major announcements came out in the wake of the big conference, and at the Intersolar conference in Munich. The most interesting story of the bunch is not a factory or product. It’s GCL’s claim that a perovskite-silicon tandem module will cost half that of a standard silicon module – $75 per kW instead of $150 per kW. That is very encouraging, because the old perovskite low-cost claims from a couple of years ago were feeling out of date with silicon selling at $110 per kW.
