Open RAN vendor Mavenir has unveiled its RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC), adding to a growing list of offerings in this strategic category, but also to some operators’ fears of fragmentation in the segment. Mavenir is providing both a non-real-time and near-real-time RIC implementation under its O-RIC banner, and claims to have two Tier 1 customers already as it pitches its software against RICs from Juniper, VMware, Nokia and others.
