Natpower UK has pledged £10 billion ($12.8 billion) to the development of a renewable energy fleet in the UK. Most notably, this is to include 60 GWh of grid-scale battery energy storage – so several GWh a year. So far, $770 million has been initially assigned for development of substations, with the first three proposals for hybrid wind-solar ‘gigapark’ projects to come later this year, followed by a further ten applications in 2025.
