The Telecom Infra Project’s (TIP’s) role within the Open RAN community is evolving, as we reviewed in our coverage last week. In particular, TIP’s research into the RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) is changing on a functional and thematic basis. Alongside this, Ericsson’s prominent role with TIP may hinder the meaningful development of rApps and xApps. An interesting political angle at TIP is the growing presence of Ericsson, which took a leading role alongside AT&T in the event in Dublin this year.
