Last week in we showed you a graph from Norway’s Rystad Energy which went out to the end of the century based on decisions made at COP26. But upon reflection Rystad used the illusory “primary energy” concept to illustrate it, which of course makes the shape totally wrong. Here is the graph once again and it appears to show how primary energy falls from a high in 2025, to a low in 2095. We have consistently “called out” this use of primary energy because solar, wind and hydro have no primary energy and are only measured in the electricity they produce, whereas fossil fuels get displayed in terms of their thermal energy – even though only a fraction is converted…
