Now that Nokia has published its Q3 results, they can be compared against Ericsson’s quarterly haul. Nokia posted a 12% revenue gain, while Ericsson was down 9%. However, Ericsson’s 191% growth in net income was much better than Nokia’s 54% decline. As the industry moves into the second phase of 5G investments (actually deploying 5G Standalone, rather than the capacity-solving stop-gap that was 5G Non-Standalone), there is long-term hope that revenue will pick up for the pair. Of course, they both fear Huawei, and while Huawei by all accounts would like to destroy ZTE, Samsung is also on the prowl – looking to grow the Korean share of the global cellular infrastructure market.
