Our coverage of US wafer manufacturing became negative since CubicPV cancelled its planned 10 GW factory (returning to tandem perovskite as its main effort). Nexwafe still hasn’t settled on a factory investment either. We were left looking to the Gulf States, India or Imperial Star Solar as likely overseas suppliers of wafer for the future US cell manufacturing segment. That pessimism is now tempered by NorSun’s $620 million, 5 GW proposed wafer factory at Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is being supported by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and the Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust.
