Facebook’s Telecom Infrastructure Project (TIP) is highly disruptive to the established telco network supply chain, especially in the RAN, which has proved resistant for so long to open source or even transparent technology licensing. Whether or not TIP itself creates a commercially successful new-look industry around its open source, commoditized platforms, the mobile landscape will be reshaped.
