Another large US energy firm PacificCorp has issued an RFP for 1.8 GW of solar, 595 MW of energy storage and 1.9 GW of wind energy. The utility supports just 1.6 million residential customers, but operates one of the largest privately held transmission systems in the US and supports it with its western Energy Imbalance Market. It does not plan to build any of the projects itself and may enter into PPA with existing systems to establish some of the capacity but most of the capacity is likely to be build and transfer. It has only recently published a new Integrated Resource Plan for what’s next after this RFP, taking onshore wind from 3.5 GW to 4.6 GW from 2025…
