Nice has acquired Fibaro for $73m, adding the smart home developer to its home automation portfolio as it looks to expand into high-growth markets. However, time might be running out for the raft of smart home startups, crowded out by the looming Google and Amazon platform dominance. For those startups that don’t find a nice little niche and/or a loyal fan-base, there will be little hope.
