It seems more than two years since Broadcom’s ongoing hostile campaign to acquire Qualcomm finally fizzled out after being blocked by President Trump on national security grounds. That would have been the biggest tech merger ever at around $120bn but since then, Qualcomm has prospered while Broadcom has reoriented its business away from wireless and towards software for its broadband and storage markets, with the acquisitions of CA Technologies for $18.9bn and Symantec Enterprise Security for $10.7bn.
