Renewable orders this week

Inelsa has begun construction at what will be Panama’s largest solar plant. The 150 MW Solar plant will occupy a 300-hectare site near Penononé, in Panama’s south coastal province of Coclé.

Developer 8minute and asset manager Capital Dynamics have completed the Springbok 3 solar farm in California. The 121 MW project includes a 1.5 MWh battery and has a long-term PPA with the Southern California Public Power Authority.

EDF Renewbles and Elsewedy Electric Group have completed two 65 MW segments of the Benban Solar Complex, a project in Egypt’s Aswan region that will eventually total 1.8 GW. A PPA has been made with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company.

Enel has completed Greece’s largest wind project, the 154.1 MW Kafireas wind farm on Evia island. Enercon turbines were used and a PPA was signed with the Hellenic Electricity market operator.

ReneSola has sold 22.3 MW of solar installations in China’s Zhejiang Province, and 13.9 MW of solar assets in Hungary were sold to Obton.

LONGi Solar has received an order from DLG Solar for its high-efficiency module line Hi-MO 4, for a new solar project of 50 MW in the Vietnamese province Ninh Thuan.

Univergy has been awarded four small solar plants located across Japan – 2.3 MW Hokkaido Otaru Momonai, 1.1 MW Kagawa Takamatsu Nishikasuga, 3.6 MW Kagoshima Sendai, and 2.5 MW Tottori Yonago Hikona.

NTT Facilities will build a 3.3 MW rooftop solar plant for Daiichi Sankyo, at the latter company’s Onahama plant in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.

Risen Energy has received an order for 150 MW of its Jaeger 144 solar panels for a solar plant in Malaysia. Shipping will begin this month and will be finished in June 2020.

Baywa r.e. will install a 30 MW Solar plant at B2Gold’s Fekola gold mine in Mali, near the border with Senegal. Along with a battery system, the plant will be used to phase out the mine’s use of Heavy Fuel Oil. Commissioning is expected for August 2020.

Orlando Utilities Commission has approved two 74.5 MW solar plants in Florida, which will be built in Osceola County by Invenergy by 2022 and 2023. The Orlando Utilities Commission will now begin negotiating PPAs.

BHE Canada and project developer RES have announced the 117.6 MW Rattlesnake Ridge Wind Farm in Alberta, Canada, having arranged a PPA with an undisclosed corporate partner.

Hrvatska elektroprivreda has begun construction of the 58 MW Korlat wind farm in Zadar County, Croatia.

Greencoat UK Wind will purchase the Glen Kyllachy wind farm from Innogy for £57.5 million once it is complete in Q4 2021. The 48.5 MW project is located in Scotland.

Statkraft has acquired two almost complete wind farms totalling 660 MW in Bahia, north-eastern Brazil.

The Cibuk 1 Wind Farm is complete in Voyvodina, Serbia. The 158 MW project was developed by Tesla Wind, a joint venture of Masdar, Taaleri SolarWind I, and DEG. GE Renewable Energy turbines were used, and the output will be sold to the Serbian state.

The Banana Range wind farm has been approved in Queensland, Australia. The 180 MW, A$350 million project is being developed by a subsidiary of Lacour Energy. Construction will begin in 2020 and will finish in 2022.

OX2, the developer of the Storbacken and Kropuln wind farms in Finland, has signed a PPA with Axpo, for the output of the projects, which are each 30 MW. The wind farms will be commissioned by the end of 2021 and will use Vestas turbines.

The 300 MW Henvey Inlet Wind Farm has been completed in Ontario, Canada. Pattern Development was the developer, Vestas supplied the turbines, and the electricity will be sold to the Independent Electricity System Operator.

EnBW has taken FID to build the 180 MW Weesow-Willmersdorf solar plant in Brandenburg, Germany. The project should be complete by the end of 2020.

Canadian Solar has been awarded three solar projects totalling 393.7 MW in Brazil. A 190.5 MW project in the state of Pernambuco and a 76.2 MW extension of the Lavras Solar farm in Ceara will be complete by the end of 2022, and will sell energy to COPEL Energia. The third project, of 127 MW in Minas Gerais, has an undisclosed PPA, and all three projects will use Canadian Solar’s own high-efficiency BiHiKu modules.

NGEN has completed a 12.6 MW / 22.6 MWh battery system in northwestern Slovenia. The project uses Tesla’s lithium-ion Powerpacks.

Enea plans a 30 MW solar plant to power a mine of which it is the major shareholder. The Bogdanka Mine is located in the Polish province of Lesser Poland.

Inox Wind will sell its turbines to Adani Green for an upcoming 50 MW wind farm in Dayapur, Gujarat, India. Inox Wind will also provide O&M services.

KEPCO has inaugurated the 89 MW Fujeij wind farm near Ma’an, in Jordan. KEPCO also shouldered the total project cost of $180 million.

Elektroprivreda Crne Gore will build the 55 MW Gvozd Wind Farm in Montenegro. The project has a total cost of about €58 million and should be complete in 2022.

The Arrecife Wind Farm has been completed in the Canary Isles. The 9.2 MW project uses Enercon turbines and was developed by Elecnor.


Lekela will start work on its 250 West Bakr Wind Project in Egypt this year, and should commission the project by the end of 2021. Siemens Gamesa turbines will be used, and the state-owned Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company will purchase the power.

Viesgo has commissioned a 24.2 MW wind farm at Marquesado, Cadiz, Spain. The project uses Siemens Gamesa turbines.


Sunlution and Ciel & Terre have completed a 1.01 MW floating solar plant at the Sobradinho Hydroelectric Plant in the Brazilian state of Bahia. CHESF is the power offtaker.

Prodiel and PowerChina have been selected by FRV to build the Potrero Solar Plant in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The 296 MW project, whose construction begins imminently, will be the world’s largest bifacial solar plant.

Dubai Electricity & Water Company has recently connected 1,354 small-scale rooftop solar projects, totalling 125 MW, to Dubai’s grid.

Florida Power & Light Company has begun making specific plans for the world’s largest solar-battery project. The 409 MW FPL Manatee Energy Storage Center will be located in Manatee County, Florida and should be commissioned in 2021.

Photon Energy will build a solar+storage project in the remote Australian island Lord Howe. The project will have 1.2 MW of solar power and a 3.2 MWh battery system.

National Grid has commissioned a 6 MW/48 MWh Tesla battery system, attached to a 15 MW diesel generator, in Nantucket, New England. The total cost of the project was $81 million.

Sungrow will supply its lithium-ion battery systems to Stem Inc’s 15 MW/32 MWh upcoming project in Massachusetts. The project will be spread between five locations in the State.

Blue Stone Energy will develop the Saugerties Solar Project in Minnesota. The 20 MW project has been delayed, but is still expected to be finished by the end of 2020.

Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives is primed to begin construction of the Richland wind farm in Iowa. The 130 MW wind farm will use GE Renewable turbines.

Construction works have commenced at a 201 MW wind farm near Murmansk. Enel should commission the project by Q3 2020.
