As part of our investigation into the video codec market, we examined the publicly posted revenue from major intellectual property holders in the industry. This week, we wished to highlight just how much larger Qualcomm’s IP licensing business is than the three other names in this initial contextual study. Through those ten quarters, Qualcomm’s running total reaches $14.82 billion. Nokia scores a total of $4.06 billion, followed by InterDigital’s $3.52 billion, and Ericsson’s $1.93 billion. At the start of the period, Qualcomm’s quarterly total was larger than the annual total for each of the other three.
