MTS claims Russian first with 5G-ready private network Russian operator Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) claims to have launched the country’s first commercial 5G-ready private network for gold and silver producer Polymetal International at the Nezhdaninskoye gold deposit in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Built with the Ericsson Dedicated Networks platform, the network supports several applications, including integrated mining dispatching, positioning, remote and automated control of various objects, and video monitoring. Construction of the private network began in October 2020, following a series of pilot projects conducted by MTS with Russian enterprises.
