Back in our issue of June 7th we first noted the discrepancy between Europe’s solar imports – 86.6 GW in 2022 according to Infolink – and its expected installation figure for 2023, of only 60 GW. They should be similar, but multiple predictions, not to mention at this point the statistics so far this year, definitely point to 60 GW, or at most 70 GW installed in 2023. As we briefly mentioned in that issue’s Worth Noting section, an EU report citing Eurostat and Solar Power Europe predicted only 69 GW of wind and solar to be commissioned in Europe in 2023, which is an especially low forecast given its inclusion of wind.
