An acquisition and a large investment have capped off a busy fortnight in the satellite sector, as the direct-to-device (D2D) low-earth-orbit (LEO) trend ramps up. At one end of the scale, Eutelsat has netted another capital increase worth €163.3 million, while at the other, Open Cosmos has acquired Connected. For Eutelsat, which bought OneWeb for some $3.4 billion back in 2022, this latest round of funding will be put to use driving further growth for that wholesale-focused LEO constellation. The UK government is involved again, alongside Bharti Airtel.
