IoT activity simmering in the satellite sphere has boiled over this past week, with Sateliot and Nordic announcing what they claim is the first off-the-shelf 5G-IoT transmission via LEO satellite, and Skylo teaming up with Semtech to launch new single-SIM connectivity options. With the MNO focus still squarely on using these satellite networks to augment their terrestrial smartphone-centric networks, the IoT sector remains somewhat under the radar.
