Sigfox has announced a significant win, signing a channel deal with French conglomerate Altice, the parent company of Numericable-SFR, a large French cableco and MNO, Portugal Telecom, and the likely future owner of Cablevision and Suddenlink Communications in the US. Sigfox has also announced that its network partner in the UK, broadcast infrastructure provider Arqiva, has signed up Wireless Logic as a Sigfox reseller. The contract will see SFR sell Sigfox connectivity to its business customers, with the announcement initially sounding like one geared towards providing redundant connectivity – in a similar fashion to a number of other Sigfox deals, which see the ultra-narrow-band technology used to provide a backup connection in case of cellular network outages or jamming.
