SolarEdge, the Israeli inverter manufacturer, has announced it will lay off around 900 employees, of total 5,300. This follows a similar decision by another inverter manufacturer, Fremont-based Enphase Energy, to lay off 350 workers, 10% of its total, which was announced December 18th. Another likely layoff is from Sunpower, which incidentally is likewise an inverter maker alongside its main business as a rooftop installer. In Sunpower’s case, we for now know only that it expects to incur $12.8 million in restructuring charges including $8.2 million in severance fees, per a filing with the SEC.
